Born and raised in Tioga County, Frank Lavore has devoted nearly 26 years to public service as a law enforcement officer.

Two years after accepting a position as a Corrections Office at the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department in 1997, he was promoted to Corrections Sergeant, where he oversaw operations of the County Jail.

In 2001, Lavore was promoted to Deputy Sheriff and was assigned to the Road Patrol division. His responsibilities included patrolling Tioga County, arrests, interviewing witnesses, responding to domestic violence and emergency calls, investigation of crimes, and preparing evidence to be presented in Courts.

In 2013, Lavore was appointed Road Patrol Senior Sergeant, overseeing the training of officers, personal shifts, investigations, performance reviews, disciplinary matters and operational planning.

During his years with the Sheriff’s office, he completed a number of training courses, including requirements to be a Certified Firearms Instructor, Computer Crimes Training, Certified Training Officer, Supervisory Leadership Program, Incident command, Advanced Active Shooter, Firearms and Deadly Physical Force Training, Suicide and Crisis Intervention Training, and many more.

Lavore is also the recipient of numerous awards and citations from the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office. A few of these awards are the Sheriff’s Commendation for Outstanding Performance, the Medal of Exceptional Service, the Certificate of Merit for Professionalism and Exemplary Service and the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Training Officer.

Lavore and his wife Ashley are the parents of one daughter, Harper Lavore and they attend the Richford Congregational Church. By a previous marriage, Lavore is also the father of Frank Lavore III, a Sergeant at Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, Nick Lavore, a corrections officer at the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, and Niah Lavore, a business owner in the Village of Owego.
